Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Fall 2013 collections are over. The week’s long event took place from February 7th to February 14th. Top designers like Vera Wang & Michael Kors took to the stage to showcase their new collections in front of buyers, celebrities, & press. And although New York City was hit by a major snow storm during the week, the shows must go on, and so fashion did not stop for anything. This season, color is a key trend, as seen in the collections of Ralph Rucci, Anna Sui, Diane Von Furstenberg, Michael Kors, & Betsey Johnson with her debut yoga line, to name a few. Each showed bright vibrant colors; some in shades of blues, orange, yellow, pink, red, purple, etc. The pop of color light up the catwalk, and definitely beckons to be seen.

On the opposite side, if bright colors are not your thing, then designers such as Richard Chi, Alon Livne, Brandon Sun, and Nicholas K, turned down the color volume and showed a more neutral to all black collection.  Key features are fur trims, leather, biker jackets, & jersey.  The looks are strong and powerful.

There were also some folkloric patterns and allot of mixed prints & textures, as seen in Mara Hoffman, Nicole Miller, Clover Canyon, J. Crew, and Katya Leonovich etc. Whether you may choose to wear head to toe prints, or as a separate piece, prints and textures are a must have for your fall wardrobe.

Fall/Winter 2013 would not be the same without some glitz and glamor. The allure of a beautiful gown or embellished piece down the runway is like icing on the cake. The stand outs were Jenny Packham, Reem Acra, and Badgley Mischka. Each showcases beautiful embellished gowns that were elegant and sophisticated; perfect for the Oscars.  However if you are looking for glamor with a mix of hard edge, there was none better than Falguni Shane and Peacock.  The looks were strong, edgy, and the fabrics/prints were simply gorgeous. It was like futuristic super heroines were walking down the runway in cocktail and red carpet gowns. The metal belts/corsets added more drama to the looks.

  1. The Ralf Rucci, design and colors: is what a super hero would wear!

  2. The model wears the " mara hoffman " design well. But i think its too flat, not impressed with the shoes either, sandals would have been more appropriate.
