Emerge! Honored Legendary Model Beverly Johnson, and Showcase Upcoming Designers with a Runway Show.


Emerge is a fashion runway show that showcases emerging designers from around the world during New York fashion week. Created by Dionne Williams of D. Williams Public Relations Group. Now in its seventh season, Emerge has become one of the leading platforms for new design talents in fashion. Beside the Runway show, each season Emerge presents their converted Innovator Awards to individuals known for their world wide impact in the fashion industry. Past Honorees include Harlem-born Audrey Smaltz, president of Grown Crew. Constance C.R. White, Editor in Chief of Essence, and Andre’ Leon Talley, contributing editor of Vogue, to name a few. 
This Season was no exception as Emerge Honored Legendary model and beauty icon Beverly Johnson. Beverly was the first African American model to appear on the cover of American Vogue in 1974, and later the French edition of Elle. The New York Time name Johnson one of the 20th century's most influential people in fashion. Johnson is not just a fashion icon, but a shrewd businessperson, with the success of her wig line and a leading enforcer in hair care notably among women of color. The award was presented to Johnson by J. Alexander runway coach, and reality TV personality, as well as a major figure in fashion and the modeling industries. Honored before the start of the runway show, Ms. Johnson gave a brief speech, and received a standing ovation.
